What To Make For Breakfast – Good Smoothie Recipes

Smoothies are everywhere it seems and my husband and I love them as our go-to for breakfast. Here are two recipes we use frequently in our house. One is what my husband and I drink almost daily and the other is one I have found that my daughter likes as she isn’t willing to try green drinks just yet. I usually make more than we need and store the rest in a mason jar so I only need to make every other day.

These definitely require a high-powered blender. I have a Vitamix so just throw in the liquid first then everything else and blend away – super easy!!! The great thing about them is that you can adjust and modify as you wish – the options are endless.

Good smoothie recipes

Green Smoothie (recipe from ohsheglows cookbook)

serves 2 (plus some)

2 cups unsweetened plain almond milk

2 bananas

2 cups destemmed kale

2 tbs. almond or peanut butter

2 tbs. ground flax or chia seeds

2 scoops vanilla protein powder

dash of cinnamon

6 ice cubes

If you want to add fruit to this you can – I have tried both pineapple and blueberry. Both are good, but I still love the original recipe best.

Yogurt & Fruit Smoothie

(serves 1)

I will make this one as a side for my daughter’s breakfast. The Greek yogurt gives her some protein while the flax and fruits with skin give her some fiber as well as the vitamins. It also makes a delicious snack for all of us!

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup Greek yogurt

1 – 2 tbsp. ground flax

1 banana

1/2 pear diced

1/2 apple diced

1 cup frozen blueberries

I hope that you will give these a try – if you do let me and Dr. Dina know what you think by leaving a comment below!
