Your baby is four months old already! That is incredible! So many changes happen this month!

As a pediatrician and mom of four young kids, many parents ask me if their baby is developing according to our expectations.

Your baby will most likely have reached the developmental milestones for babies listed here at four months of age. Remember, your baby is unique, and each baby progresses through the milestones in their own way. Please do not hesitate to discuss any concerns with your health care provider.

Most newborn babies will reach the milestones for baby development listed here. This represents the average milestones for babies by month 4.

Some babies will reach the milestones early in this time frame, and others will later. For example, your baby may quickly master social skills while others will be more proficient in motor skills.

Remember each baby’s progress is different. Please do not hesitate to discuss any concerns with your health care provider.

My advice to new parents is to take the time to learn, enjoy the time with your baby and have fun!
